Tangent Projects Studio Residency Winter/Spring 2022
For our Winter/Spring 2022 residency programme we were joined by Charlotte Cuny and Ginevra Bertazzoli, they were at Tangent Projects Studios between mid-January to mid-April 2022.
Many thanks to the selection team - Evin Collis, Elin Lindecrantz and Lucia Retamar - for all their hard work.
Charlotte Cuny is a French painter based in London.
Charlotte paints her memories, from her own pictures, which she uses to express her emotions, perceptions, and sensations between deconstruction and abstract figuration. Recently, she has started to focus on dreams in her paintings as they are ‘the most ancient memories’. Charlotte also experiments with expanded paintings, using etching, prints and/or sculptures, thus creating combinations of these differing mediums.
Charlotte graduated both from a Master of Fine Arts in Central Saint Martins and of painting in Mons, Belgium. She had a first Solo Show ‘Seules les traces font rêver’ in 2020 in Maître Albert Gallery in Paris. She participated to collective exhibitions including in Saatchi Gallery, Tate Modern/Tate exchange, Bozar – Brussels Fine Arts Museum, Mons Fine Arts Museum, Apiary Studios and Candid Arts Trust in London or Lethaby Gallery in Central Saint Martins. She belongs to the artist group Slash Arts based in London.
Ginevra Bertazzoli is a visual artist from Milan, Italy.
Ginevra graduated in studio arts at Metafora Studio Art School in Barcelona, she ranges between abstract painting, photography, pottery and installations. For her, art is a therapeutic means, a link between feelings and structure. Dominant traits such as abstractionism, chromatic study and infinite spatial research have always been present in her works.
She is currently engaged in the development of a project linked to the conception of private space, for the body, but also for the mind, the nest as a metaphor for safety and meditation. The need to escape from an increasingly fast and hyper-connected world. The project led to a recovery and in-depth study of artistic handcraft techniques, for the analysis and discovery of the senses.
To coincide with Charlotte & Ginevra’s exhibition project, A Protective Nature, we continued our collaboration with Trio Editorial to produce a zine publication - click here to see Charlotte & Ginevra’s zine or visit Tangent Projects to pick up your free printed copy.
