COMPUTER MASK 1 - Raechel Teitelbaum

Curated by Tsering Frykman-Glen.

August 2020, Tangent Projects website.

Raechel was due to exhibit in Tangent Projects gallery in April this year but due to the global Covid 19 pandemic we have postponed their exhibition to later in the year. During our discussions we talked about showing one of Raechel’s video works online and both agreed that this was a resonant time to show COMPUTER MASK 1. It was available to view throughout August.

Using poetry and imagery of a relief of an alginate mask of a human face, as well as imagery of nature and living organisms, Raechel explores the notion of symbiosis and the ways that humans, animals and plants all function in parallel ways.

”Using biological concepts such as meiosis and mitosis, I work to explore humans, and their relationships to other biological organisms - including other humans - as well as nonliving beings such as technology, through the lens of a nonbinary, queer nature.”
